Global Riders, Big Air: Your Spectator Guide to the Wakepoint Open on Lake LBJ

July 9, 2026

World-class wakeboarding is returning to Kingsland! KBEY’s Mac in the Morning caught up with event organizers Maddie Allen and Brady Westlund to preview the highly anticipated Wakepoint Open wakeboarding tournament hitting the water at the end of this month.

Pulling in top tier global competitors from Japan, France, England, and Australia to battle alongside Texas locals, this premier showdown features a massive $46,000 total prize purse—including a high-stakes $25,000 single-winner ShootOut where riders get one chance to stick four massive tricks behind industry-leading Nautique G23 towboats.

Best of all, the entire tournament is 100% free for spectators. The action is staged just north of the 2900 Bridge on a glassy, wind-protected stretch of the Llano River. Spectators can pack a canopy and watch directly from the beach, anchor their own boats right up against the competitive pass, or park at Wakepoint LBJ and catch continuous water taxis and shuttle charters straight to the site all day long. The daily competitive events lead directly into live music, food booths, vendors, and athlete meet-and-greets at Wakepoint basecamp, plus a Saturday morning beachside “Sunrise Stretch” hosted by Red Bull.
