Watoto Children’s Choir returns to Marble Falls on Feb. 4
January 30, 2014
We’re so happy we had a chance to visit with Joni Bedard, the music director at First United Methodist Church in Marble Falls!
She let us know about the Watoto Children’s Choir returning to the church Feb. 4. The concert starts at 6 p.m. and is free. All ages will be amazed and inspired by these talented young children.
The Watoto Children’s Choir has traveled internationally since 1994 as advocates for the estimated 50 million children in Africa who have been orphaned as a result of HIV/Aids, war, poverty and disease. The singers, orphans themselves, are incredible ambassadors, raising awareness about the plight of the orphaned and vulnerable children in Africa. There will be CDs and wonderful items for sale that the women and children of their village have handmade. You also may sign up to sponsor one of the orphan children on their list.
It was a packed house the last time they came to town, so get there early and be ready to be entertained!
To find out more, pick up a copy of this week’s The Picayune or read an online version of the newspaper here. You also can visit the choir’s website at www.watoto.com.
