Gillespie County Fair turns 125!
August 21, 2013
Happy 125th Birthday to the Gillespie County Fair Aug. 22-25 at the Gillespie County fair grounds in Fredericksburg! We sure are glad we got to visit with Gary Kunz from the Gillespie County Fair and Festivals Association about all the fun coming up this weekend. For a schedule of events, check out the fair’s website at www.gillespiefair.com.
The Gillespie County Fair is the oldest continuously running county fair in Texas. Along with the parade on Saturday, there is a new carnival and midway, great fair food, livestock exhibits in the show barn, pig races, agriculture and household exhibits, domino tournament, arts and crafts booths, antique tractor shows, live para-mutual horse racing and dancing under the stars to great live music. You’ll hear Darrell McCall and Tony Booth on Friday and John Anderson, Cody Johnson and Elizabeth Price on Saturday night.
The Gillespie County Fair and Festivals Association is a non-prophet. A large portion of the proceeds helps grant scholarships to graduating seniors.
