Hibler served as Burnet County’s extension agent for agriculture and natural resources since 1992, retiring in 2014. Before that, he was an extension agent for Lee, Travis and Bastrop counties. He received bachelor’s and master’s degrees in agricultural education from Texas A&M University. He is licensed as a non-commercial pesticide applicator by the Texas Department of Agriculture, a certified hunter education instructor by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department and a certified wildland firefighter by the Texas Forest Service.
Born and raised in San Saba County, Hibler is an active hunter and kayak fisherman who loves the outdoors. Hibler’s wife is the the Rev. Ellen Ely, and his daughter, Hailey Hibler, is in the veterinary program at Texas Tech University.
