Ed and Kay sure had fun visiting with Harvey Gebhard, the CEO of the Lonestar Barbecue Society about the Cooker of the Year Cook-off this weekend. Sign-up starts at 7 a.m. Friday with competition on Saturday. Along with having the honor of being the 2014 Cooker of the Year, the competitors have a shot at a $5,000 payout. Everyone is invited to come witness the action, and, if you think you are ready to compete, all you have to do is show up Friday morning and sign up. (You must be at least 18.)
The cook-off is at the Burnet County Fairgrounds, 1501 Houston Clinton Drive in Burnet. For more, go to the society’s website at www.lonestarbarbecue.com.
